About Me

Hello! My name is Amy Tomko and I am a junior at Muhlenberg College. I am a mathematics major with a concentration in statistics, and I am minoring in sustainability studies. The environment has always been a huge part of my life. My family always took vacations to the mountains each summer, where we would hike and explore. The places we traveled to would always be clean and free from litter, but when I returned home, I saw plastic piling up on the side of the road and on the beaches. While plastic pollution has far reaching consequences for people and animals alike, seeing plastic pollution so close to my hometown was disheartening. This site is dedicated to exploring everything there is to know about plastic pollution. What are the causes and how do these consequences effect both people and the environment? What can you do to limit plastic pollution and what government changes are needed? While cleaning up all plastic pollution may be improbable, there are steps we can take to mitigate the negative effects of plastic.
